Biography

Dr. Jennifer Beers joined NTC’s Honors Program in 2016 as Tulane’s first dedicated fellowships advisor and now continues this work in the Office of Fellowship Advising as Coordinator for Nationally Competitive Scholarships.  In this capacity, Dr. Beers serves as a resource for all Tulane students pursuing prestigious awards to support study abroad, research, graduate study, and international research and teaching after graduation.  From advising students about fellowships that can support academic, personal and professional goals to guiding students through application processes, Dr. Beers works with our most intellectually ambitious and academically gifted students as they pursue the opportunities offered through prestigious awards.  Prior to serving as a fellowship advisor, Dr. Beers was an Assistant Director in the Academic Advising Center, where she acted as the Advising Center’s liaison to the A.B. Freeman School of Business, led the Advising Center’s team of Business Advisors, and supported the academic success of hundreds of Tulane undergraduates.  Dr. Beers earned her PhD from Tulane University’s Department of Philosophy and spent over ten years teaching courses in the history of ancient philosophy and classical political philosophy.  In addition to advising students on nationally competitive scholarships, Dr. Beers enjoys engaging students in the classroom, and has recently taught Honors Colloquia and the Honors Thesis Bootcamp, as well as courses for SOPA’s Master of Liberal Arts program.
